Meet our Pastry Chef and Cake Sugar World Founder

contact

At a very early stage of her life, our dear pastry chef Kenlys Otten, developed an exquisite sense, of taste that have brought her into the culinary world. Growing up inside of a big family where nobody was ever interested of baking at all, made it difficult for her to express her interest in this field to her family, knowing that they will never allowed her to pursuit culinary arts as her main career.

During her childhood and part of her teenagerhood Kenlys visited bakeries around the city with her auntie, on Saturdays morning after their hair and nails salon appointments, it was a ritual to stop by the bakery and grab few items for the family, that will include the delicious napoleon that her  auntie loves the most, profiteroles, (Kenlys's favorites) and fruit tartlets for grandma.

Kenlys, took several baking courses in Venezuela where she is originally from, but she also took some cake decorating classes with Wilton's in Florida, North Carolina and in Denver, Colorado. Later on, in 2010 she started the Culinary program at the Art institute of Colorado and decided to become a Pastry Chef. Cake Sugar World, emerged year later from Kenlys's enthusiasm of having a bakery where she can combined all the delicious items she grew up eating and others that she tried later in her adulthood, it took her several attempts, to finally mastered what we know today as their store menu.

All Cake Sugar World recipes have been created by Kenlys, using a variations of other old times recipes and of course by adding the most wonderful and unique ingredients.

Every single bite at Cake Sugar World has been inspired by her childhood memories in her hometown ( Caracas, Venezuela), and some others have been inspired from some trips that she has made around the world like: France, Italy, Germany, London and others.
